Classroom innovation is crucial for student achievement as it introduces creative teaching methods and technologies that engage students and enhance their learning experiences. By fostering an environment of continuous improvement and adaptability, innovative classrooms can better meet diverse student needs and drive academic success.

Grants:

Each Spring the Foundation Awards Inspire the Journey Grants. Any employee of Shelby County Schools is eligible to apply for an individual grant up to $1,000 or a group can apply for up to $2,000. These grants allow our teachers to dream big in their classrooms and provide enhanced experiences for students.

Grant applications will be open after Winter Break each year, and will be awarded in March.

"Our Pop Cart funded an incubator & chick warmer for our AAA classroom at The Hill! We hatched 9 babies & the students have loved seeing them hatch and run around! The class has had the best time #HatchingatTheHill for the past 3 weeks!"

-Ms. Mizell, Elvin Hill Elementary School

"As my ‘Sit or Stand’ desks were being delivered into my room, all of my kids were so eager for one and kept asking when they were getting theirs. These desks are a true asset in my classroom because kids are recognizing and taking charge of their own learning needs."

-Ms. King, Linda Nolen Learning Center

Facility Dogs:

Our cutest project by far has been investing in our students’ mental health by assisting with the ongoing cost of the 2 facility dogs in our district: Guava and Gourde.

Extracurricular:

The Foundation invests in many opportunities for our students outside of the classroom environment. These opportunities enrich the overall education experience for all students throughout Shelby County:
